Aronson Technology Services is pleased to offer a Crystal Reports training session developed specifically for Sage Timberline Office. With the increasing use of Crystal Reports, particularly with Project Management, Billing, Property Management, Service Management and Purchasing and Inventory this two-day class is a must.
We will focus on the planning process as well as on ways to create, modify, and save simple designs. Starting with a foundation of database and Crystal Reports basics, our instructor will soon transition into advanced topics such as subtotals, grand totals, running totals, select feature (conditions), formulas, functions, conditional formatting, parameters, subreports, variables, and more.
You will learn through a combination of lecture and hands-on activities. Lab time will give you a chance to work with reports appropriate for your area of specialty, such as Job Cost or Property Management.

Beginning Report Designer

Timberline’s designer applications are the power behind your software – enabling you to access the information you need for effective decision-making. This two day beginner’s class teaches you how to use these powerful tools. Using a combination of lecture and hands-on activities, you’ll learn design basics for Report Designer on day one, and Financial Statement Designer and Inquiry Designer on day two. Whether you are in the construction industry, development, or property management, Timberline’s sample data is geared to allow you to get the most out of this class!

Day 1 Report Designer You’ll learn how to design your own custom reports and modify the existing reports that come with the software. We will cover Timberline data structure, data storage and data retrieval options, proper report design and layout techniques, editing, and presentation capabilities.
Day 2 Financial Statement and Inquiry Designer How can I create a custom financial statement? The answer can be found by attending this class. We’ll teach you designs from basic to complex including entity comparisons, show what prefix groups can do for you, and how macros can streamline financial statement production. Learning Inquiry Designer will enable you to develop your own custom inquires, and we’ll walk you through the intricacies of the designs, jumps and all!

These classes are designed for anyone who needs to understand and learn fundamental Timberline Office tasks. With an emphasis on daily processing, repetitive setup tasks (such as General Ledger account, bank account, vendor, job, and employee setup) and those that impact ongoing workflow are covered. The all day classes allow plenty of time to work through typical issues while the instructor is available to assist and answer questions. This is a great way to train new employees or cross-train staff involved in daily operations. Sign up for as many days as you need!
Day 1 General Ledger and Cash Management Workflow Learn the basic functions of the General Ledger & Cash Management modules. This class covers GL journal entries, making closed period adjustments, CM bank transfers, and the all important bank reconciliation.
Day 2 Accounts Payable Workflow Get the fundamentals of vendor setup, invoice entry, error correction, check printing, and recording manual checks.
Day 3 Job Cost Workflow This class will provide a good grasp of the basics and more. You’ll learn entry and import of estimates, subcontracts, purchase orders, owner and internal change orders, direct cost adjustments, percentages of completion, variances, schedules of value, billings and receipts, and job setup.1 We will also cover error correction and month end closing.
Day 4 Payroll Workflow This class is designed for staff who perform time entry, processing and printing of checks, generating direct deposits notifications, recording manual checks, report printing, and employee setup.

In Cash Management, we’ll cover the edit register process, how to perform a bank transfer, and the all important bank reconciliation.
Day 2 Accounts Payable Workflow Learn Accounts Payable workflow from start to finish. We’ll cover how to set up vendors, enter invoices and perform error correction, all the way through to selecting checks for payment and the print checks process. Recording manual checks, voiding checks, and posting are included in the training.

Day 1 Document Control Gain solid skills to set up a job; create submittals, RFIs, and transmittals; record meeting minutes and correspondence - even create custom logs! We’ll also look at the new field reports included in version 9.5.
Day 2 Contract Control Everything you need to track a contract and cost estimate will be covered on this day. We’ll start with entering cost estimates and contracts, followed by commitments (subcontracts/purchase orders), change requests, and change orders. By the end of the eLearning class we’ll also have covered forecasted cost at completion.

This eLearning course provides the training you’ll need for using the Accounts Receivable, Contracts, and Billing applications. You’ll learn how these revenue applications work together and how they integrate with Timberline Office. Focusing on setup and workflow for each application, this eLearning class is designed for anyone who uses Accounts Receivable, administers Contracts, or creates Billings.
Take one, two, or all three days.
Day 1 Accounts Receivable Setup & Workflow Learn how to set up customers and contacts, and customize entry views. We’ll cover the necessary AR workflow tasks, such as entering invoices, entering cash receipts, correcting errors through adjust receivables, and aging receivable balances.
Day 2 Contracts Setup & Workflow Contracts and contract items are the main focus of this eLearning class. We’ll show you how to link your contract items to jobs and cost codes, and walk through the steps of approving contracts and contract items. We’ll discuss entering change orders, posting entries, and closing the month in the Contracts application.
Day 3 Billing Setup & Workflow Learn the importance of markup tables, rate tables, standard items, and add-ons as well as how to set them up. We’ll cover both contract-based and cost-based billings, plus quick bill invoicing. Then it’s on to print and post invoices.

General Information
Training Options In-House Training
- On-Demand classes. We schedule classes based on a user’s request, teaching from Sage Timberline Office’s curriculum and training manuals. Once scheduled the class is then advertised to the general public.
- Customized training. We will conduct a private class for your group and tailor the curriculum to your specific needs.
Our in-house classes are hands-on and interactive. They take place at Aronson LLC’s office, in our training room. The training room can accommodate 8 users at a time.
On-Demand classes are $495 per person per class; the customized training is $1,800 per day plus the cost of manuals. The manuals cost from $60 to $85 each.
All In-House classes qualify for CPE credit.
eLearning We also offer eLearning classes. These classes are attended remotely via WebEx and phone. They are ½ day classes consisting of lecture and demonstration and follow Sage Timberline Office’s curriculum and training manuals. The manuals are shipped to you prior to the class and have activities that can be completed on your own after the class.
We have the same options as above; On-Demand, and customized training. On-Demand is $295 per person per class and the customized training is $600 per day plus the cost of manuals.
These classes do not qualify for CPE credit.
Classroom Training Location and Hours All classroom training classes are held at our Rockville, MD training center and run from 9:00 A.M.–5:30 P.M. unless noted differently.
Prerequisite Students should have prior familiarity with the Windows XP desktop environment.
Enrollment To secure enrollment, please contact Lisa Seemann at lseemann@aronsoncompany.com or (301) 231-6200 x 6720. Enrollment fee must be received prior to the start of the class.
Confirmation Registration confirmation will be sent via email.
Payment ATS accepts most major credit cards and checks as payment for education programs. Group packages are available.
Rescheduling and Cancellations A customer that wishes to cancel registration or decides to enroll in a different class must notify ATS in writing by faxing 301.231.7630 or emailing lseemann@aronsoncompany.com. Students may cancel or reschedule a class up to seven (7) business days prior to the class start date without penalty. The customer may elect for a full refund or a credit towards future classes. Notification received less than seven (7) business days but greater than two (2) business days in advance of class date will result in a $100 fee. No refund or credit is available for cancellations received within two (2) business days of the scheduled start date. This policy applies to all courses offered by ATS, regardless of promotions, discounts, annual programs, or other education agreements.
ATS reserves the right to cancel a program at any time. Should a class be cancelled by Aronson Technology Services, ATS’ liability is limited to the return of any prepaid tuition.
Students will receive their choice of a full refund or credit towards future courses. All credits must be used within a twelve-month period from the date issued. Unused credits will be withdrawn after the twelve-month period has ended.
Student Substitution Policy A customer may substitute students without penalty.
No-Show Policy: If a student does not show up for class, the customer thereby forfeits the full tuition fee.
For your information:
Room temperature may vary, please bring a sweater/jacket for your comfort. Lunch is on your own. A list of local restaurants will be available at the training class. A refrigerator and microwave are available at our facilities if you would like to bring your own lunch.

CPE Credits Continuing Professional Education credits are available upon request to accounting professionals who attend Timberline classroom training courses. An attendance sheet will be provided during the class where you can elect to have a certificate sent in the mail.
